A Named anchor or now Bookmark is a link to a specific element within a website page

Named anchors have been changed in HTML 5 the anchor "name" attribute is no longer used
We now use the "id" attribute and refer to these as a "bookmark"
The named anchor is legacy so they still work but we should move to the new method

WHAT IS AN ANCHOR
When you use a hyperlink in HTML you place an <a> tag the A refers to an ANCHOR
In the old days we used to use "name" to name a link now we use "id" so it has a unique identification

Example of a bookmark within the same page

Click on the arrow to return to the top

In web studio you add the link like always but use Other Link and type in the hash mark id

A link that goes TO a bookmark uses a hash mark

# makes it a bookmark link
anchor1 is the id it's linked to

#anchor1

Select your text or image you want to link from
 on the
Text tab in Links select Other Link
delete the http:// and copy/paste this example

Like this:

The actual bookmark you want to go to is also a link but all it has is the id

The easiest way to do that in web studio is use an entity called a non-breaking space

You can use any unique id they just have to match like #mybookmark to id=mybookmark

You don't see this part when you preview so put it where anywhere you want on your page

anchor1 is the id for this bookmark

<A id=anchor1>&nbsp;</A>

Place a new text object  on the Text tab in Clipboard
select Edit HTML copy/paste this example

Click your back button to return to this page

Example of a bookmark within a different page on a website

We do this bookmark similar to the method above

OVADOC etc. is the code web studio uses for a page link
You can add the hash tag id to the end of any link

<A href="OVADOC7DD93B6622680#anchor2">

Like this:

#anchor2

Select the text you put the page link
 on the
Text tab in Clipboard
select Edit HTML copy/paste this example
on to the end of the link

This time use Page Link then we'll edit it to add the hash mark id

anchor2 is the id for this bookmark

<A id=anchor2>&nbsp;</A>

Place a new text object  on the Text tab in Clipboard
select Edit HTML copy/paste this example

This example is using anchor2 as it's unique id

On the page for this bookmark you want to go to is also a link just like above

Thank-you
