Web Studio Next

This top is a colored division it uses no images and is made to go across 100% of the screen... see CSS backgrounds II

This BAR is a division with a backgound image that is made to go across 100% of the screen... see CSS backgrounds II

This entire white background is using those same 3 tiny images

Plus you get radius corners and shadows that work
in all browsers which may be something to think about at least until
most people get updated with the IE9 browser then we can do it with just coding and no images...

All the background images on this page (except the top bar 80 bytes)
use only those 4 images and is under 10k...

This image alone could be as much as 40k + and if you had only 10 pages
you'd save 400k in download time just on this image.

So it's an excellent way to save on your page download size.
Works great with Web Studio too!

The target for web pages is between 300 to 500k the more we can put towards content and keep to the smaller download size the better.

That 10k would be for the entire site, or every page
you used these images on...

All these three white backgrounds use the same three images that could be 60k just for this one page plus the tiled background saving.
